MAX (Parsons Jack Russell)

I’ve recently been taking Max to get cut at Barkers and I will now not go anywhere else. He is not the easiest Jack Russell to cut and has been turned away from many groomers who refuse to cut him due to his temperament when it comes to a hair cut, however, Barkers do a magnificent job whenever they cut him, by far the best from anywhere I’ve taken him, and for this I thank them. All the staff are friendly in a clean and well-presented environment.

We were always very happy to bring Widget to Barkers for his haircut. Everyone was so friendly, supportive and professional and his “teddy bear clip” was just fantastic. As Widget was a Canine Partners puppy he always received a lot of attention when he was out in public, especially when we were training him in hospitals, banks, supermarkets….and of course in pubs and coffee shops! So it was important to us and to the Charity that he looked at his best wherever possible. Total strangers have stopped us in the street to say he was the most beautiful dog they’d ever seen, so that’s probably the best testimonial of all.

Barkers did a marathon job of handstripping our spinone Beryl. She’d very firmly made it explicitly clear to us that any plucking at her coat was unwelcome and not to be tolerated. Hello I am Mr Darcy.

I look so fabulous prancing along Eton High Street , am much admired and I have been known to stop the traffic – literally!

More important than looking so gorgeous, is the fact that despite not liking being parted from my Mum, I enjoy my visits to Barkers.

The very mention of the hairdresser  has me bouncing about with gleeful anticipation. A lovely shampoo and pamper session. My Mum can enjoy a rare leisurely morning, knowing that I am in safe and kind hands (she is most particular about who she entrusts me with).

I am rather sensitive and when I was a puppy, did not like having my hair done at all. Then we were recommended to come to Barkers and I have been a regular visitor for over seven years now and know that Linda and all the Barkers team will look after me, be caring and reassuring, talk to me and give me back to Mum, happy and looking wonderful!

What more could I wish for!

DOMINO (Tibetan Terrier)

Hi, my name is Domino and I am a very lucky dog. Every six weeks mummy takes me to Barkers for a haircut and bath. I love going there to see the girls who are very nice to me. Until they’re ready ready for me, I sit and wait in nice clean surroundings and I see the other dogs being made beautiful. When I’m done the girl takes me out to my mum and I pull them down the path as I want mummy to see how good I look.

 

I love going there, I wish I could go more often. The only downside is mummy does not let me go paddling for a week or so afterwards. Just after Christmas, I had itchy anal glands and I nibbled the base of my tail and made a big knot. Mummy took me to Barkers and they sorted me out in 10 minutes, mummy was really pleased with them. Only lucky dogs get to go to Barkers.

DISCLAIMER

Client Cards
Barkers will only provide grooming services to new customers once they have filled out a client card and disclaimer. This is essential in the unlikely event of any accidents or emergency whist your dog is in our care. It is the clients sole responsibility to inform Barkers of any changes of contact information or the dogs health.

Client cards contain your information which includes
Your Name and Address, contact details, vets details, pets age, pets full details and behaviour, details of any warts, scars, lumps or eczema.

Finally you must sign the disclaimer
"I confirm that my pet is fit, healthy and fully vaccinated. I agree that the groomer will not be held liable or responsible for irritation, abrasion, patchiness or hair loss due to any pre-existing skin condition, or as a result of the process of grooming, de-matting, thinning, stripping, or shaving, or any mishap caused by my non-disclosure of my pets medical condition or behaviour. If my pet bites or attempts to bite any person or pet, a muzzle may be used, or at the discretion of the groomer, treatment may stop & I will pay for all work done to that point & will pay the cost off all damages / expense my pet has caused. If I fail to collect my pet at the agreed time I will pay all extra cost due. If my pet harbours any parasites clear them at my expense. If my pets health causes concern, obtain veterinary treatment at my expense. I understand & consent to all the condition above"

Failure to sign a disclaimer
Failure to sign a complete disclaimer will result in services being refused. Barkers will make no exceptions to the rule and 50% of the grooming cast will be charged due to a cancelled appointment.

Privacy & Confidentiality
Barkers take the privacy of our clients very seriously and will never share or disclose any of your details to any third party. with the exception of your nominated vet. Your confidentiality is respected at all times

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. THE CARE OF YOUR PET
We will take every care of your pet while we are working and grooming.
We use the latest washing equipment and have carefully selected all our grooming and washing products from leading trade suppliers who specialise in offering professional grooming products. After every completed washing session we will be happy to discuss the outcome with you to ensure that our service meets the needs of your pet.

2. OUR STAFF
All our staff have all been picked because of their love of animals and their desire to work with them full time. They have all had extensive practical experience and training in dog grooming and have demonstrated their skills and efficiency in dealing with both pets and owners. At all times our groomers have the right to refuse to work with difficult dogs with behaviour problems, but will endeavour to do everything within their knowledge to help your pets enjoy the process of being washed and groomed in the BARKERS GROOMING way.

The owner agrees to inform BARKERS GROOMING prior to their dogs grooming session if the dog has bitten or has aggressive tendencies.

The owner understands they will be held liable for all bites caused by their dog.

Due to expansion and the ongoing training needs of BARKERS GROOMING, it may be that your groomer is training towards a City and Guilds Qualification under our Qualified and Guided Supervision and on occasion alone to our stringent standards. We carry out the highest level of training to ensure both you, and your dog, receive the best possible service from us both now and in the future.

3. EXAMINATION OF DOG
We will also examine your dog for any irregular lumps or infections during the grooming process and if anything is found our groomer will discuss it with you, but it must be stressed that this is not a professional medical examination as would be given by your vet or medical advice and for this your vet must be consulted.

4. INSURANCE
Barkers maintain full Public & Employers Liability Insurance in the event of damage, accident or loss to your pet or our staff.

5. DE MATTING OF FUR
In the event of matted fur resulting in the need to clip tight to the dogs skin to enable removal, the owner should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process. The dog's skin may get caught because of the close proximity of working to the skin. The owner agrees that BARKERS GROOMING shall not be held liable for any after grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems uncovered' on a badly matted neglected coat The owner agrees to pay all costs for the grooming of the dog including de-matting which is an extra cost, whether or not the groomer is able to complete the job due to matters arising during this process

6. COMPLAINTS
Any complaint or dissatisfaction must be notified and discussed on handing your dog back after its grooming session with us. In the event of any agreed additional grooming as goodwill, the dog must be returned within 3 days.

7. CANCELLATIONS

Missed appointments will incur a fee of 50% of the standard grooming charge due to the loss of time and traveling costs incurred as this could have been booked to another dog.

This also applies to cancellations with less than 24 hours notice given

Please make sure your dog has relieved itself prior to its grooming session.

Relief & Fouling within our grounds is strictly prohibited. CCTV cameras are in operation at all times and fouling will be charged at £20 to cover the cost of cleaning and disinfection.
